Starting with John B, his mother left him when he was born, he also struggles with the fact that his father could be found alive but he very possibly could be dead. When he finally meets his father again he grapples with trusting him, knowing that he could leave and never come back at any given time.
Sara’s family is not like any other family. Rafe, Sarah's brother has severe anger issues and has taken his anger out on her many times. Sarah's life has been threatened and changed due to his poor actions. She also feels that her dad only cares about money and getting the gold, not her.
JJ has gone through so many tragedies in his short 16 years of life. He has suffered from an abusive, alcoholic, and careless dad all his life. He also does not know anything of his mom.
Kie has many problems with her parents. She feels that her parents don’t trust her, respect her opinions, friends, and the life she wants to live. Her parents don't respect the fact that she wants to be a Pouge and have Pogue friends when she was born into a Kook family.
Pope lost everything. Pope had his whole life planned out. He was getting scholarships, acceptance into top-tier college's and knew what he wanted to do after highschool. He threw all of this away just to help Jhon B and the pouges find Johns B's dad, gold, and other treasure's.
Lastly Cleo, Cleo also has thrown her life away. Cleo had a job as a boater but again threw that all away to help John B and his friends.🌈
